Those who have heard about AFM (Angel Food Ministries) might not know about a similar group called SHARE --(which is organized regionally, so there may be differences, in what they offer, state to state)-- with each "region" having their own website.

Here's more about the SHARE organization, as explained on the SHARE Wisconsin ( http://www.sharewi.org/about.htm ) website. To locate a SHARE affiliate in your area, VISIT your regional SHARE website (or call the regional number)... links & phone numbers are listed here: http://www.sharewi.org/SHAREAffiliates.html

1. SHARE is a very good program that is not government linked and
is available to all people regardless of income. My family has been using it to supplement our food budgets for years now. The food is good although not always brand names and you can buy individual items that you find you really like. I recommend that everyone try it and that social workers and other hunger groups have the info to give out to their clients.

3. cross-posting this, from the GD forum:

one of my replies, from that other forum, follows:

"AFM is in some sort of trouble" well, yes & no...

Thanks for raising this issue... as it bears further discussion (IMO).

Actually, the AFM organization and its FOOD distribution is not the issue which is central to the AFM FOUNDERS' LEGAL PROBLEMS. The "trouble" is more a matter of GREED(?) on the part of the founders--WINGO family members. The FBI and IRS are looking into those issues (i.e., how much should the executive officers of a NON-PROFIT be taking as compensation... and does any part of said "compensation" violate the letter of the law?). It also looks to me like some of the BOARD MEMBERS want to OUST the WINGOs... and have filed a civil suit. There are a few more details, on these AFM issues, in a recent MSNBC article (see: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29574290 -- and as stated earlier by RebelOne, this "trouble" does not affect the FOOD being distributed to those in need of same).

As an aside:

Why am I posting about AFM and SHARE at this time? Because although they are SIMILAR in purpose, and perhaps even have geographical areas of OVERLAP... there are areas where AFM is available and SHARE is not available (and vice versa). Also, because they don't necessarily offer the same MENUS at the same PRICES (so some may be able to take advantage of lower prices, or different selections for their diets).
