Pre rant, I'd like to say Welcome to DU.
David Cay Johnston wrote a series of articles that ran in many Sunday papers across the nation in the summer of 2005. The war between the classes has been had and lost, being that this is now five years later and we're way worse off since.

All three branches of the federal government have chosen not to govern the masses, but serve the economic interests of transnational corporations. The country's highest court has rendered the scales of justice imbalanced by offering an exponential voice to disembodied conglomerates. The presidency seems to be about continuing its lusty pursuit of a unitary executive, despite which party is keeping that seat in the oval office warm. The legislative branch is now about fund raising, photo ops and farming out the homework of legal language to lobbyists, which ever one slipped the most secret baubles the right way.
I could go on ranting, but the bottom line is we as a people can either rebuild or continue to run like rats off the cliff for the piper.
