2. So sad and so true.
In a city near me (Sarasota) they've removed all the benches downtown because the shopkeepers objected to the homeless using them. This an affluent -- actually rich -- city (Republican through and through) and a very upscale shopping/dining area. They don't want the 'blight' of homeless riff-raff affecting their retail traffic, but also won't contribute to alternatives. Just get 'em out of sight.

Of course stealing your kids and selling them into slavery would be nice, but that's the economic system they're setting up, so we'll just have to wait for that.
