1. Not very informative
Yes, if they send food aid, a lot of it will be diverted to the military. But most young men are in the military and they are starving too. Agricultural experts have been advising changes that could start remedying the problems immediately, but the powers in charge keep on demanding what doesn't work.

2. I just went to a forum Saturday and listened to two North Korean defectors speak
Both of them were honest about their feelings toward the west before they came to South Korea and told us how bad things had been there. Both also had been repatriated at least three or four times from China. Needless to say I very much dislike China.

3. It's not China's job to absorb refugees from North Korea.

With heavy sanctions on the North Koreans by most of the world, which prevents trade from coming into the country, it is hard for them to develop any economy except for an internal one, and hard to get money to purchase food, or to get equipment to sustain farms.

4. To quibble with a bit with the reporter
NK does not blame the sinking of the ship on the "north". These people are living on below subsistence level, it would be nice if they got the reporting right.
