This is my first visit to the Poverty Forum and I wanted to thank bobbolink, Sapphire Blue and vickitulsa for encouraging me to post here. There are simply so many fora on DU I haven't even visited most of them but I feel passionately about the subjects of poverty and hunger, so here I am!
Currently I have one thread running on GD regarding hunger in America. As per the advice of others, over the next few days I'm going to try and cull a list of links to articles and websites from that thread concerning hunger and poverty in this country. I hope that will be of some use and I look forward to participating in the discussions here.
Some of you have shared on DU very personal stories about dealing with poverty and I feel privileged to have heard those testimonials. Though I have often posted on the subject (and saved some of those in my DU journal) I really haven't touched upon why this subject moves me so deeply. Soon, I hope, I will be able to do just that.
Anyway, for now I just wanted to say hello and thank everyone for caring for all those in need.
