I use white cabbage and daikon radishes, with celery, carrots, and ginger root.
It is almost a full time job. Regular shopping for veggies. Wash and prepare veggies. Juice veggies, drink juice, wash juicer. Rinse and repeat.
But it works! I am not in constant pain any more. A lot cheaper than taking pills, no side effects to worry about, and so much better than invasive tests, surgery, or antibiotics.
I know that they now say ulcers are caused by bacteria and can be cured by antibiotics. But those bacteria can be present in the body without causing problems, so antibiotics, by upsetting the balance of benign bacteria, can actually cause ulcers in the first place--and a lot of other problems.
A friend got the juicer for me at Costco. It's a Jack LaLanne power juicer, and it works fine. But it won't make smoothies, so I might eventually get a blender also. That can wait until the ulcer is completely gone and the juicer is paid for.
I'm a big carrot juice believer. A neighbor told me about carrot juice years ago when I was diagnosed with a precancerous condition. Two weeks of carrot juice and the precancerous condition just disappeared. Could be coincidence, but I've believed in carrot juice ever since. So I was ready for cabbage juice, and it really does seem to be working. With cabbage and radish juice for the ulcer, and carrots thrown in for taste and any other benefits, I'm a happy juicer now. I'm not sure why I'm adding the celery and ginger root, but they were in two or three different cabbage juice recipes, and I guessed they wouldn't hurt.
Amazing how quickly pain can induce me to change my entire lifestyle!
