I'll admit it: I like nice clothes, and have found it relatively easy to find jeans, sweaters, tops, handbags and briefcases and belts, etc., that are cruelty-free and environmentally sensitive. The remaining problem is shoes. I like heels. I don't like black shoes. I don't like chunky clunky things. Plastic sucks, and it seems that many alternative materials are produced in polluting factories.
Stella McCartney's line of clothing and shoes and bags is free of animal products, but she's of the insane-designer variety who thinks it's OK to charge $450 for a t-shirt and $600 for shoes. Pu-leeze. I don't mind paying for quality, but once the shoe enters the $300 and above territory it's just all bullshit.
Anyone have any good alternatives? The only place I haven't been able to completely phase out leather is in footwear, and I'd love to have some suggestions. Are my best bets fabrics like linen, silk, hemp, etc?
Thanks in advance...
