Not to make a pest of myself, but I started:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=5289037to get information on the resource use needed to provide a given quantity of protein to humans in the form of soy foods, vs. in the form of soy-fed beef.
I.e., if I want to create 'N' units of protein, then if I provide it with say tofu (someone pointed out that tempeh is complete while tofu is not; you pick the food), how much soy do I need to harvest, vs. if I provide those 'N' units via beef, how much soy do I need to harvest to feed the cows to make the beef to supply it ?
I.e., how many more acres does it take to feed a given amount of protein to humans in the form of soy-fed beef than in the form of soy foods ? I'll guess a lot...
Anyone who cares to contribute here, please do. I would have posted here to start except I didn't find the forum until now.
TIA
