Hearts United for Animals (HUA) was the recent recipient of several kittens literally tossed into the ditch outside of the Auburn facility. The kittens were in pretty bad shape with most having a severe Upper Respiratory Infection (kitty cold) in addition to other injuries such as cuts and even a missing eye. The kittens were covered in ticks and infested with other parasites such as roundworms and earmites. The attached photos are before and afters of just a few of the kittens. It is quite a dramatic difference now that they have had proper medical care and attention. Because HUA is not really designed to house kittens, the kittens were sent to foster care with Feline Friendz in Omaha. They nursed them back to health and now most of the kittens with the exception of the one missing an eye are ready to find new homes. Most are very friendly and outgoing but a few are somewhat shy and would prefer quieter homes. They all use their litterbox and are just doing great overall. All are approximately 2 to 3 months of age. They have been neutered and vaccinated as well as tested for feline leukemia and FIV. The following are descriptions of the kittens:
Ranger – orange and white male tabby. He is very loving and outgoing. He loves to run and never seems to be able to sit still. He came to HUA with a huge cut on his foot, most of the hair missing on one ear which has since grown back and also a strange hair pattern best described as a “crop circle” – mysterious and we don’t know how it got there – that will most likely remain a different texture and color from the rest of his hair color that is most likely due to an old burn or scrape injury.
Teddy Bear – Ranger’s brother. He is very shy but loving. He is also an orange and white tabby.
Wolfie – Beautiful, loving longer haired buff male. He got his name by sitting and staring at his foster mom until he could assess the situation. Once assured it was safe he came in for snuggles. He is very charming.
Foxy – Wolfie’s brother. A longer haired orange tabby. Definitely shy but loving.
Slick – Beautiful silver tabby male. Very loving and social. He purrs pretty much just when you look at him much less when you hold him. Best friends with Eclipse. They are rarely apart. They sleep together, eat together and play together. And, of course would love to find a forever home together……. J
Eclipse – Long and lean black male. Very affectionate and playful. Unsure of new people at first but warms up fast. Best friends with Slick.
Their sister who is not pictured here is not quite ready for adoption. She is a sweet little black kitten who is missing an eye. She is not quite old enough to have it repaired yet. She will be ready for adoption soon as well.
If you would be interested in adopting any of these kittens, please contact Jenny or Laura at mbslds@cox.net or you can email Feline Friendz directly at FelineFriendz@yahoo.com . They will be handling the adoption arrangements.
