27 + 13. That's 40, right? 40 pitbulls, not including 2 uncounted litters. The babies are on chicken wire, the adults on chains around 4 feet long. The females are nice, social, wanting attention. The males are scared to death.
They're all skinny. One has a terrible eye infection. She'll probably be blind in that eye, IF she gets vet treatment...which she's not. Mange? Yeah, a couple of them.
These are all breeder stock. Any that don't produce get to "go away" somewhere. Nobody lives on the property, but there's a mobile home on a little over an acre. Very rural area.
Animal Control is a total joke in the county in which this property resides. They've been called and called, yet have done nothing. Found nothing wrong. The officers have gone back to their secure homes each night, obviously not caring about these animals that they're paid to protect.
I have pictures and video that are getting scrutinized right now. I'll have a veterinary opinion tomorrow afternoon, a legal opinion as well. I know the property and the area. I know about the easement that runs up past the lot line of her side yard. I know who holds her mortgage and with one phone call, I'll know her homeowners insurance company.
With pics, video and all the info in hand, I'll make one final call to the county Animal Control. I'll get my own case number. Then, I'll call a good friend in my animal control's cruelty investigations unit and ask if they know anyone in the other county animal control of which I could ask a favor.
If animal control refuses to investigate, faced with my evidence, or if they find no problems and do nothing. Then, I'll simply need to escalate. I intend to then take my evidence to the Board of the Florida Animal Control Association and call out the Director of the errant county administration. Then, to friends in the media.
I'll then make my calls to the USDA/APHIS, Florida Secretary of State and the IRS. Running an unlicensed business (selling puppies) without a license, and not paying your sales tax NOR income tax are going to be issues the officials need to be made aware of.
I've made my decisions, from which I won't back down: 1. The property owner must be fined for allowing this to occur at this residence; 2. The accused should be charged with a couple hundred violations of the Florida Statute against animal cruelty, which include confinement, feeding and veterinary care; 3. The accused, if found guilty, or if plea bargaining to a No Contest or lesser charge, are to be banned from having any animals in the future.
Peace is what I want for these dogs, and I've prepared for war.
