4. Interesting. I thought it went pretty good.
;)

I thought Singer made some excellent points.

-- Find another god.
-- What if babies tasted delicious?
-- Do shrimp feel pain? What does it hurt to err on the side of caution?

Sure, these comments made the audience uncomfortable. It's an uncomfortable process to re-evaluate your position on an issue you've been steadfast on for most of your life. If even a couple of people think about what he said that would be good.

The audience-not so much..
Maybe I am just oversensitive, but I thought he got less than half as many cheers that guests typically get.

7. I not surprised at all by the audience reaction.
Even on a liberal board like DU, people are resistive to the veg message.

I think economics is the only thing that will make people go veg. Most people just don't care enough about the suffering their choices cause. It's only when they suffer, whether it's economical, physical or emotional suffering, that they will change.

6. Interestingly though
I think Colbert is actually probably more supportive on such issues than Stewart et al.

I have noticed that he makes a point of acknowledging AR activists as part of the progressive community and acknowledges the cruelties of factory farming etc. more than many others.
