I have a question for the vegans here
Is it possible for a vegan (allegedly for many years) to be morbidly obese?

I'm not talking "heavy" or "overweight", I'm talking so obese that she was approved for, and encouraged to get, gastric bypass surgery. Right before she was supposed to get it, they found that she had severe heart problems, so her doctor then told her she shouldn't get the surgery.

It just seems strange to me that someone could be THAT heavy and be vegan.

I feel bad for suspecting her as lying, though.

1. Sure.
Especially if the person had a serious underlying health condition or was already obese when going vegan. I don't know any morbidly obese vegans, but I know a few who probably count as obese who definitely are vegan and have been for years.

2. thanks
I know she's not in the best of health, and doesn't exercise.

It just seemed strange to me that she could maintain that much bulk with no animal fat in her diet.

But maybe she has a lot of HFCS.

3. In addition to what LeftyMom said, it IS possible to be vegan
and live off of eating vegan garbage. A diet of tater tots and Soy Delicious could easily cause obesity. It's all about calories in v. calories out.

4. I can't hear you. Lalalalala (fingers in ears)
I refuse to believe that Soy Delicious is not the ideal breakfast. :P

5. Sure it is.
I could easily imagine somebody eating 3000+ calories of french fries, potato chips, soy ice cream, chocolate bars, sugared sodas, etc in a day, all while sitting on their fat ass watching Springer. Veg or no veg, if you put in more than you burn you'll get fat.
