In the midst of the horrific pet food news, I thought I would share the events of my world yesterday, Thursday. We all need a bright star on the horizon, this has been that star for me.

My non-profit doesn't own the mare or foal, she is a boarded horse at our facility. But we love her just the same as if she was ours.

We have been waiting on this glorious event for sometime and had begun to worry about the health of mom and baby. But here he is, beautiful and sound.

7. Update!

He is still nameless. The owner has given us permission to let some of our special needs students name him. So we are going to hold a contest for his barn name. Our organization teaches special needs children and adults to ride. The kids have been counting the days until the baby came, so they were very excited to see her today.

At the end of their rides, they get a short "trail ride." Today that trail ride included a trip past the paddock where the baby and mom were.

He is still unsteady on his feet, but has started running and venturing away from his mother.

In the next few days he should be really zipping around the paddock.
