2. Dang, my son works for a bakery owned by Cargill.

The publications they send their employees make them sound like they are completely in sync with global conservation efforts. Oy. When I realized how huge they are, I figured they were evil. Should have trusted my instincts.

One more reason for my son to get an education and change jobs.

3. The site which needs signatures.

There is not an English version, as this site was started by Brazilian soap operas of a mini-series now airing in Brazil by the name of "Amazonia".
Television is a potent tool in Brazil, and has now succeeded in obtaining over 300,000 signatures endorsing immediate action against the deforestation of the Amazon.

I just signed by "nome" (name) and clicked the "assinar" (submit) icon on the bottom right and it accepted my signature. The other info is optional.

If you have the time, there is a powerful slide series in the bullet point "manifesto" and has the soundtrack of the current miniseries which is a rather haunting musical background to a collection of the soon to be extinct Amazon heritage if immediate interruption of the deforestation does not take place.
I believe the government of Brazil will very soon take drastic measures to stop the rape and pillaging of what was once considered an inexhaustible resource.
