Veg out with Hawks' vegan player
"In June, Atlanta Hawks guard Salim Stoudamire abandoned his diet of junk food and animal-based foods to become the Hawks' only vegan player. (Vegans typically only eat food from plants — fruits, vegetables, legumes , grains, seeds and nuts.) So when team chef Bradley Rouse cooks turkey chili or Cajun catfish for the rest of the team, Stoudamire gets grilled tofu and quinoa (a high-protein grain).

Stoudamire recently sat down to talk about being a vegan in a sport dominated by carnivores."

1. Impossible.
Vegans are weaklings. I read it here on DU just the other day.

4. Don't make me laugh so hard, I'll wake the neighbors.
Is it deep fried bacon-wrapped bacon? I hear that's really good on pork chops. :D

5. It's a burger wrapped in bacon, served
au jus (which, btw, means...in the blood of the meat).

6. That'd be good with a side of ham jerky.
Edited on Wed Apr-04-07 11:17 PM by LeftyMom
Edit: PREMIUM ham jerky, mind you.

8. But it's almost Easter, and nothing says Easter like ham
It says, Jesus, we love you so much we're making something you'd never eat to celebrate you. Now shut up and be grateful, oh Lord, or we'll slather it in cheese sauce. :D

9. Wasn't Jesus an Essene?
And if so, would He eat the ears off the chocolate bunnies first?

10. How could they hear the good news with no ears? Do you think Jesus would deprive the chocolate
bunnies of the gospel? What have they ever done to you?

Oh, that reminds me, we gotta track down some chocolate. Bunnies optional, but I want something sugary and good.

11. You two need some sleep! haha
I always wondered where the ham at Easter came from, seeing that Jesus was Jewish and would not have had that at his Passover Feast!

12. Yeah, we do.
I've got infected tonsils and he's got a sick dog, so we're both pretty tired. We're this goofy all the time though, even in person. We do this same routine at the grocery store, too. "Sure you don't want some ground turkey?" "Oh look, free range eggs are on sale!" But the sad thing is, we've been making the same (admittedly kinda stupid) joke for years, and we both still laugh at it.
