I fixed Indian food last night, and in an unprecedented gesture I actually divided it and added chicken to half of it for the omnivores. Not only did it make me uncomfortable, it was not appreciated.

Husband: This is too bland.
Son #2: This is too spicy.
Son #1: This smells funny. (Granted, it did have the tiniest pinch of asafoetida in it.)

She always said it politely and with her Southern grace, but it got the point across! :evilgrin:

4. She was a nurse

and worked long days. She rarely made a meal that we couldn't find something on the table to eat. My brother was the picky eater, he learned quick to find something to make do with...haha

And when I go home for a visit, even though she is retired, the same rule applies. So if she asks what you want while you are there, you better answer quick! :)

She is an excellent cook, so now, I never find anything disagreable.

Actually, my husband does most of the cooking. Since eating vegan I've been cooking for myself, and this was sort of an experiment to see if we could compromise instead of having two completely separate dinners.
