Great line of vegan hair care products
Edited on Fri Jun-01-07 05:30 PM by Lorien
So, money is tight and I just spent $100.00 on a bottle shampoo and conditioner. Insane? Nope. My hairdresser turned me on to Pureology products about five months ago. They are organic, vegan, and do no animal testing-and, I can honestly say, they are the best hair care products that I've ever used! One ten ounce bottle of each has lasted me over five months, and I have long hair (to my waist). The products are made without water, so a very small amount goes a long way (less packaging is better for the environment too). A 10 ounce bottle cost $24 at the salon I go to, but I found 33.8 ounce bottles on Costco.com for $46.99-B*sh will be out of office before I need more shampoo and conditioner!(I got the "hydrate" variety; my hair is very fine, blonde, and I've got lots of it. I'm going gray so I'm coloring it now, so it's kinda fried, and NOTHING softens it like the Hydrate conditioner)!

Just goes to prove that organic, vegan, and cruelty free can beat everything that isn't!

Anyone else have a favorite vegan product?

1. I LOVE their stuff!
My hairdresser turned me onto it a couple of years ago and I've been getting it from her at her cost (she's a sweetheart) in the gallon bottles. Great product.

5. That hairdresser is a keeper!
and gallon bottles? Those would probably serve a whole family well for a year or two, lol!

Soon after the pet food poisonings started I read an article about a woman who only ate organic whole foods, but when her body was tested for toxins (or "toxic body burdens") it was found that her body was heavily contaminated with a number of industrial chemicals-most of which were also found in her shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, and cleaning products. Since then I've been trying to switch over to natural non-toxic products everywhere in my home. Haven't found the sunscreen yet, but Pureology, Shaklee,Earth friendly products, and Mrs .Meyers have done well for the rest!

3. Yeah, about that much
maybe a little more. It's the first shampoo and conditioner that I've used that didn't contain water, so it takes a little getting used to.

I also use a household cleaning product by a company called Shaklee called "basic H2" that cleans windows, counter tops, floors, wood, etc. It also is a concentrate that doesn't contain water; one 11oz bottle makes 48 gallons of cleaner! The company won't do animal testing, and the products are all natural and eco friendly. I'm hoping that this is a trend; less packaging could save us quite a bit in CO2 emissions over millions of items. Maybe Americans in general are finally catching on to this.

4. Appreciate the info....
...I have long hair, too, so I'd want to make sure it could do the job, and not be too expensive.

Thanks for the advice...

I am familiar with Mrs Meyers, but now I will be looking for these other products as well.
The shampoo sounds great. I will be heading to CostCo this weekend.
 :hi:

My boss is a vegan/animal activist and his will be very happy to hear about this product.

7. Let us know if you find it at Costco. Most of the online items
are only online. Kinda sucks...but at least I think the shipping was free!

:hi:

11. I agree. Saves on gas and time, too.
Someday I'll find a service that will deliver organic groceries to my front door-then the only time I'd need to leave the house is when I'm seeing friends, on vacation (haven't had one in years) or going to the gym-which would be fine by me! I'm not into the whole American "shopping as recreation" thing.

Oh, one tip I've found when buying big bottles of lotion, shampoo, cleaners etc. If you transfer some of the product into a smaller container before you use it you'll find yourself using less to get the job done.

12. That transfer idea is so right!!! I do that with dishwashing liquid, and dilute it as well.
About 1/4 or less of the dishwashing stuff and the rest of the bottle is water.
The bottles last forever.......and still cleans the grease off dishes!!

10. Thanks for the links!
I've bookmarked each of them and will look through everything to completely "de-toxify" my home. Good karma with going vegan, too!
