Dogfighting Raids Increase after Vick Indictment

Media reports since the day Michael Vick was indicted on dogfighting charges show that law enforcement is increasingly cracking down on dogfighters, as this list of recent arrests demonstrates. While the welcome new attention on the issue is leading to more police activity, these cases—which broke up just a small fraction of the animal fighting operations still lurking in the shadows—should be only the beginning.

How to Spot Signs of Dogfighting in Your Community

An inordinate number of pit bulls being kept in one location, especially multiple dogs who are chained and seem unsocialized.


My son, who is in no way involved in dog fighting has had pit bulls dumped on him by people who are involved. He now has 9 pit bulls chained on runs in his back yard. I told him that I would try to contact a pit bull rescue to take the dogs. But he said, "Mom, I am a pit bull rescue." He lives in a very redneck area of Georgia where there is plenty of dog fighting going on. I sure would like to see some of these creeps busted. My son knows who some of them are, but he won't tell me because he knows that I would turn them in. And, of course, it it ever came out that he did tell me, they would probably kill him.

veterinarian
animal shelter

In other words - do they know who he is and what he's doing?

If not, he should probably make friends and let them know he's one of the good guys.

Record-keeping would help, too, I should think. Including pics, etc.

If he needs/wants some help, needs/wants some protection and guidance...I'd love to talk to him.
