Every so often when I get to the point of thinking that no one in this world gives a darn about the puppy mills and the auctions being run by the Amish, I read this ongoing petition. It has given me hope!
Yesterday I went to read the comments again and WOW!
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/846327093 It now says this:
>>
IMPORTANT UPDATE: A HUGE thanks to those of you who signed our Petition, made personal calls and wrote letters to the CEO, Robert Restrepo, Jr. Because of YOU, State Auto has made the decision to discontinue their relationship with the Buckeye Dog Auction effective June 30, 2007! This is just great news! Now the Buckeye Dog Auction has no bond to insure them! Hopefully soon the dog auctions will become a thing of the past. I've been pounding them for a year now and yesterday was the day I lost my sweet dog that had been so abused last year.
So there was indeed justice for her I am thinking now as the place these auctions were being held in Ohio was not far from the place where my poor girl was from.
:woohoo: in the meantime and also, I'd like to ask everyone to place take a second to hope that my poor girl that is no longer with us is in a happier place.
:toast: everyone! :)
and thanks to everyone here that has signed this petition (and others) as well.
On edit:
Comment #4756 says it all in a nutshell (IMO) btw:
>> The Amish are a major force in the puppy mill horrors, and are considered by many in animal rescue to be the most vile, evil people with no conscience or responsibility about breeding poorly matched animals. Genetics may be far too difficult for such people as they to understand. They beat, starve and breed animals until they die. Their version of Christ must be so twisted that there is no worry about ever mistaking the Amish for the Quakers.
