What's cookin', good lookin'?
Cooking up for the week:

Homemade bread with ground walnuts and flaxseed, wheat germ and bran, and sprouted wheat berries.
Butternut squash and sweet potato soup with leeks.
Ratatouille.

What's happening in your kitchen?

1. Oooh, I like the sound of that soup.
I especially like squash soup with curry & coconut milk.

I was in a funny mood yesterday and made a batch of stuffing. Like the Thanksgiving stuff, but with hazelnuts and a bunch of whatever I found in the cupboards. I haven't made that for, oh, 20 years or so. My husband came home and and gave me the "Wha?" face, but he really liked it.

I've some eggplant to use up, so I'll probably make baba ghanouj. That pot of leftover marinara is going to have to made into something soon, too, but I don't know what yet. Maybe stuffed shells.

I'm not really in the mood. Fortunately, this goofy bird likes to be in the kitchen with me, so he encourages me to get stuff done in there. (I don't let him join me when I'm doing stovetop work.) Silly, huh?

2. Coconut milk, what a good idea
I might try adding a bit to a bowl of soup and seeing how it is.

I LOVE stuffing. Can't stop eating the stuff.

3. The bread just came out of the oven
And it is truly awesome. I cannot resist fresh bread.

4. I made a huge batch of granola this morning and tomorrow
I'll make some banana bread and some apple crisp. I would have made it all today, but I broke two toes this week and can't be on my feet too long without pain :-(.

6. Oooo, sounds delish
I love granola, almost too much.

That injury has gotta be a total drag, especially in light of your username. Heal quickly!

12. Thanks
I am missing the best part of living back in PA - hiking in the Fall with all the trees changing color now. Kicking through fallen leaves on the trail and watching the squirrels and chipmunks scurry around for acorns....

Oh well, things could be a lot worse.

7. What's your taco filling?
Soy taco 'meat', tofu crumbles, tempeh or what?

The Natural Cafe in SoCal makes a mean tempeh taco, btw.

8. Damn, but it's hard to behave.
Um, I use Lightlife Gimme Lean for the "meat" filling. I'd really like to make my own, but it's not going to happen right now.

10. You've really stepped up.
I must admit, you really are on the edge, the echelon of the female/flvegan interaction.

Hey, when I ask you for nude pics, don't send 'em.

Well, unless you want to. You know...

Gawd...oops, I did it again, dammit.

that I can out-'red card' anyone, any day. ('Red card': behavior crossing the bounds of corporate propriety.)
