Let's see how long it lasts before it's moved back here! I hope you don't mind because I did give you credit, flvegan. I just think more people should be exposed to what their silence condones.
A personal story about animal mistreatment in laboratories: Yrs ago my husband, a physicist, was contacted to find a way to measure intracranial pressure non-invasively. When he had to contact a university to do efficacy studies, he went to the relatively near medical school in Richmond and met with the vice-chairman of the department of Neurosurgery & Director of Research. When hubby and his colleague arrived there, he was aghast to learn that this dept. chair was bashing in the heads’ of monkey to affect a raise in cranial pressure before drilling a hold in their heads to measure the pressure! My husband and his colleague stopped the practice and told them it was unnecessary. Intracranial pressure by can subtly raised in other and relatively non-painful ways. As if this physician didn’t know that! Btw, hubby was successful and now has a patent on the instrument and process (held by the govt., of course, since he works for them).
Anyway, every time I hear of a lab animal being abused, I think of my husband’s close encounter with such cruelty.
Stupidity = cruelty = stupidity. Always.
