1. Former co-worker and I are working on starting a documentary movie night

We're going to host a (vegan, duh) potluck, watch a documentary (the plan right now is to do some AR stuff, some social justice stuff, mix it up and not be too one-note) and then discuss, with thoughtful but not all likeminded people in our extended social circle. Like a book club, but easier for busy people.

So if I've got a resolution right now, it's to get a goddamn TV (ugh) 'cause right now the hold-up is that neither of us has a screen bigger than our laptops, and get this thing started.

2. My thread, I'll be (on edit) second. I've dragged this around for months.

I broke my first rule earlier this year. I can justify it all day long, but it's still a breach in how I work.

I left animals behind.

As most of you know, I stole this dog earlier this year from a known dogfighter:

She'd have been dead in a day or two. This is how we found her:

However, and it tears at me, I left others behind. Rule #1 with me is that nobody gets left behind. You can take pics, video...whatever, but when the datagrab ends, you dump your shit and snatch critters. Keep the media, drop the equipment.

I didn't. I kept the media, snatched the dog and ran. But I left others behind.

Today, these dogs are probably either dead or otherwise suffering:

A sample of the 30 or so others that I can't show here.

I hate myself for it.

Next year, as I circle 2k, I will never leave another animal behind.

Never again.

4. those very dogs, oh god
I wish I hadn't seen their pictures

Well you'll always feel the twinge of regret but you learned from it, and you saved that first girl which was really really important, each individual you help is so important I think

I haven't thought of a resolution really but I'll keep trying to make my husband a vegetarian.

5. please do not hate yourself
You may hate that you could not do more to save them. But you did not do this to them. You saved the one you could. Every day in every way you do wonderful things and harm the least possible. You should treat yourself like you treat these dogs that you save. With love and encouragement. You are a person of goodness and this goodness blooms again and again. In what you do, in what you write, in what you don not eat.

Treat this goodness in you as it should be treated. With appreciation. To keep performing these saving and loving acts, you must be sound and solid as well. Please remember to feed yourself with love as well. Without you, all the ones that you have saved would have suffered and be gone.

Thank you for all that you have done and will do.

7. Well it is good you helped one
I helped one squirrel escape a cage this month. I know I can't afford getting arrested, so I admire those people who take the big chances.
