I am in the midst of reading Don Coyote by Dayton Hyde. I had to pick it up at the library after hearing about it at http://dailycoyote.blogspot.com So far, it is a really interesting read. On the back cover it states that this book will be to coyotes what Never Cry Wolf was to wolves. So another one for my search. My love of books about animals started with a childrens book call "Beautiful Joe"
I have also enjoyed reading Desert Solotaire by Edward Abbey and Silent Spring by Rachel Carson.

What are your favorites? I'm always looking to expand my horizons.

1. I've read all of the Edward Abbey books and many by
John McPhee. If you aren't familiar with him go here http://www.johnmcphee.com. He's a great writer.

My favorite childhood book was "Misty of Chincoteague" :-)

2. Last year I read some mind blowers
they are not classified as pleasure books. It is rather a rude awakening to the nightmare endured by other species:

a historical account of the animal rights movement:
Animal Rights: History and Scope of a Radical Social Movement (Paperback)
by Harold D Guither (Author)
http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Rights-History-Radical-Movement/dp/0809321998

I have seen excerpts from the dailycoyote blog. The photos are awesome.
