1. I'm sure such statements make them feel like "humanitarians"
but as Gandhi said; you can tell a lot about a society by the way it treats it's animals. At times, those posters sound exactly like white slave owners talking about their slaves. It's all about being "superior" to something; they know that most testing is useless and done only to get Federal grant money.

2. Please, please, please, tell me that someone did not just
suggest that we test Iraqi "war criminals", and when someone asked "Why not test Jesus?" (pointing out the poster's complete and utter stupidity), the other poster replies, "Duh, Jesus was the son of God, the Iraqis are not."

Please, please, please, please tell me he did not just say that.

Jesus fucking Christ (no pun intended) some people are so stupid it's amazing that they can breathe, maintain a heartbeat, and tie their shoes at the same time.

I'm staying out of that thread altogether, because I don't even know where to begin. I'll just end up type-screaming at someone.

3. And I'm suspicious...
That some of the people on that thread are just trolling. DU has really given an easy way for trolls to get their post counts up: participate in animal rights-bashing threads. You can act like a right-wing asshole, and nobody will be able to pick you out from the rest of the crowd.

5. Bingo!
it's a shame that the *real* DUers in that group don't know that they ARE RW assh*les on animals rights issues.
