* 3 cups plain flour

Directions:

1. Defrost the veggie fish fillet
2. Sprinkle the fillet with salt and mushroom extract.
3. Lightly coat the fillet with plain flour.
4. Fully dip the fillet into the batter mixture.
5. Deep fry until golden brown (approx. 7-8 minutes)

1. I wonder what the "fish" is made out of and how it's flavored.
I've read recipes that just call for slices of tofu, battered, then fried. I'm not one to believe that beer batter fried tofu is going to taste like haddock.

Fish 'n chips...oh, I do think I'd kill for a good vegan version of that.

I mean, not really "kill" but you get the idea.

2. Nah, it's more likely Taiwanese fake fish.

You might be able to find it at a local Ranch 99 or other Asian grocery. It's surprisingly flaky like fish, and often has seaweed in it for a bit of an ocean flavor.

Most vegan shrimp that I've tried, on the other hand, have been rubbery and nasty. :(

Here's an example of Taiwanese veggie products:
