I'm not super up on dog nutrition, what with a house full of cats and all, so could one of our resident dog parents check it over and see if it looks reasonable?

1. I've used the Nature's Recipe for years.

Every now and then, one of the rescues that comes in will be intolerant of the soy so they get regular quality meat-based dog food. I'd love to use the Van Patten food, but the cost would be severe. I also cook for 5 of the dogs, and that's their exclusive source of nutrition.

I also know folks that have used the Wysong and swear by it. Very pricey though.

2. Teh Kittehs are on Natural Balance,

but we have a really great pet store here that keeps it pretty reasonable (I think I pay $18.99 for the big bag? and $0.69 for the canned, I think?) and a big bag of cat food lasts the two late model subcompact cats and the older midsize cat about a month. Since I got adopted and went from one cat to three, I have shifted more from canned food with some kibble to kibble with canned food as a treat, more because I don't want to smell that much canned cat food than because of the expense, though that's certainly a factor.
