But she's far too animated.
Anyway, when I found Mila, her home was sort of a foster home. They had taken her from a VERY abusive situation. She was starved, left to sit in her own waste, not dewormed and flea ridden. She also must have been attacked at some point because she has these tears out of her ears. Anyway, the people that took her from there were not really sure what to do with her. They didn't have the money to keep her. They also already had a dog and an 18 month (or around there) old child and another child on the way. The woman was nice, but they really didn't know much about dogs. In the time they had had her, she hadn't gained weight, was still covered in fleas, still had not had her vaccinations, still had worms, and still had hair missing on her urine stained legs. Further, they intended to breed her, so she was still going through heat cycles. Also, because of the child, she needed to be crated. The woman liked the dog a lot. She didn't want to give her up. So I gave her 160.00 for her.
Mila is doing so much better now. She's up to 10 pounds, which is right for her size. She doesn't have fleas or worms anymore. I also had her put on heart worm preventative. I had her spayed last week and she's already had the sutures out. And her hair has grown back on her legs. She still has her fur stained faint yellow, from the urine, but it's only faint now. I also had all her vaccinations done. I probably will also have her teeth scaled down in the next 3 months. They're not bad, but they could stand a professional cleaning.
She sleeps on my knees at night, which is sort of uncomofortable, but I got used to it. All in all, getting her feeling good has cost almost six hundred dollars. Someone once asked me if I wanted a dog so badly, why didn't I get a pure bred puppy. Completely missing the point....
