I saw a preview of Whale Wars at AR2008.

Apparently there will be eight episodes on Animal Planet starting this October or November. Visually what I saw looked great even on a huge projector- I'm guessing they shot it in HD.

I died laughing at the shot of a SSCS crew member reading a book called Dirty Japanese so he could yell a few choice phrases at the whalers.

And apparently they did get the shooting on film.
