The easiest, best vegan snack ever, seriously
Okay, check in the freezer section of your local mainstream grocer (yeah, I know, but be brave kids) for some frozen pretzels. SuperPretzel and the Safeway store brand equivalent are vegan, others may vary so read labels. You can also find these in the freezer sections of warehouse stores sometimes, but again, check ingredients.

Then, either online or in your local HFS, pick up some chipotle flavored Parma! It tastes nothing like parmesean, but it's quite awesome in it's own right. Oh, and some pizza sauce for dipping if you like.

Once you've got them, preheat your oven as instructed, spray your pretzels with a little water, then shake on a generous amount of Parma! and bake as instructed. Put your optional pizza sauce into little cups or bowls for dipping.

This is the best snack, and it's super easy.

1. Suber easy but super devoid of any neutrition. This is a problem
for vegitarians. They eat too much starch and now veggies.

I've never, ever, ever heard a nutritionist complain about any American eating too many vegetables.

Americans do love their refined, starchy carbs, though. Mmmm mmmm!

Stuff the pretzels with Teese, coat them in chickpea batter, and then deep-fry them.

Of course now I'm looking at my healthy lunchtime salad and suffering from deep-fried envy. :(

9. A friend of mine made vegan deep fried pizza.
In her defense she's a Scot, and deep frying things is pretty much their national hobby.

11. I haven't been there yet, but I'm meaning to go one of these days.
I got a pizza at Lanesplitter for my b'day and that was pretty darn good.

My new favorite bay area vegan place is Loving Hut in Chinatown. Holy crap, that was good.

12. Lanesplitter pizzas are pretty good.
I like the vegan calzone just a teensy bit better, especially if you throw in every vegetable on their menu. :)

Loving Hut ... is that SF Chinatown or Oakland? I've never been, in either case. Do yourself a favor and try Merit Vegetarian if you ever get all the way down to Sunnyvale, though. MMMMMMMMM!

5. I meant to say some vegitarians eat too much starch and not enough
veggies. I was trying to type no and some how a W ended up on the end.
When I tried to correct it it was too late.

I try not to take my nutritional advice from anybody who can't even spell vegetarian. :eyes:

And yeah, I know it isn't the healthiest thing in the world, which is why it's a snack and not something to base a meal around. Though it's a good idea for people generally and vegans in particular to pay attention to their dietary sources of EFAs and B-12, both of which are plentiful in the Parma! stuff, because it's based on nutritional yeast (a good source of B-12) and walnuts (a good source of EFAs.)

The Chipotle Cayenne flavor is ridiculously good and not too spicy.

Don't be fooled into thinking it's going to taste like good, aged Parmesan cheese. It's not even close. But it still tastes awesome, with kind of a yeasty-nutty flavor, and it makes a great last-minute addition to almost any veg*n sauce. Hell, just sprinkle it on some bread and butter. You'll thank me for it.
