127 Dogs Seized from Alleged Wilkes Co. Dogfighting Operation

MILLERS CREEK, N.C. -- Authorities raided Wildside Kennels on Wednesday, seizing 127 dogs and arresting three people believed to be involved in a dogfighting operation run out of the kennel.

The apparent owner of the operation, Ed Faron, and two others -- Amanda Lunsford and Donni Juan Cassanova -- each were charged with one count of felony dogfighting and bailting. Authorities said additional charges are pending.

The raid was the culmination of a three-year investigation by the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office, Wilkes County Animal Control agency and The Humane Society of the United States.

If you're like me and you despise dogfighting assholes, the name Ed Faron will be quite familiar. He authored "The Complete Gamedog" and is very well known in the dogfighting community (and he's been convicted of it before).

What's unfortunate is what will likely happen to those 127 dogs.

Any word on who to bother about actually finding a placement for the dogs, rather than killing them all?

Both are local newspapers. A lot more information.

They are looking at 4-10 months in prison if convicted on the current charges. Sadly, NC law says that the dogs must be euthanized because fighting animals are, by-definition, dangerous (bullshit!). All three were released on $2,500 bond. The dogs are being held in a undisclosed location.
