Hi all! Question for you...Going Veg while living with an Omni?
Hi! :hi:

So I've pretty much decided to become a vegetarian, as one of several changes I'm planning to make in my life. I'm not going to jump into it with no preparation, of course. :)

But, does anyone have any advice on doing this while living with a dedicated Omni? We do have a good number of meatless meals during the week, but he loves his meat, so to speak. :P

Thanks in advance! :hi:

1. LostinVA and I just eat separate meals a lot of the time
It's a pain in the ass, but it's doable.

2. Withold sex until he bends to your will.
:P

Nah, I really don't have much idea. OC is an omni, but when he lived with me he ate vegan in the house, and whatever the hell he wanted when he was out. Which wasn't really a concession, he doesn't know how to cook and was at my mercy.

4. Then our new veggie friend suffers too.
However, since that's a two way street, I now know how to get what I want. heh heh.

Evil = me.

6. I cook a lot of stuff that...
can have a bit of meat added to it separately for my fella. Like a really nice pasta you can add a couple of meatballs or Italian sausages to their plate. Or a stirfry that he can add somse strip chick/beef to. Antispasto salad is also easy -- just add the meat to his. If it is a dish that requires the meat to be made in the dish (like chili), he gets TVP or else goes hungry. :D

7. I'm the only vegetarian in my home (husband, 3 kids)
we compromise.

I think ground beef is gross, so we only use Morningstar Farm crumbles for chili, tacos, skillet meals, meat sauce for pasta etc.

veggie burgers cook up quite nicely next to hamburgers, as does a nice slab of eggplant (grilled w/brie or portobello w/blue cheese melted and they drool over it while they have their all-American fare!) .

My entire family prefers the Chikn patties for sandwiches to real chicken patties. And veggie corn dogs to regular, too.

I'll make 2 veggie sides if I'm cooking meat for them, and I'm happy nuking a veggie burger for some protein if the sides are light. But I'm pretty easy about food like that.

1/2 my omnis currently prefer veggie bacon to regular believe it or not (when I first made it, they all called it Beggin' Strips!)

There are tons of meatless meals, too, and grilled cheese and soup pleases everyone. Chinese food is a great option for eating out. Moe's has tofu. Its a brave new world out there for us!

Meals change, evolve - with so many meat substitutes out there, it makes it easy. Just try to be flexible and give him/them meat if they really want it. It makes it easier to get them to accept the meatless ones.

8. Mrs Robeson and I just eat different meals...
...but she likes a lot of the veggie meals I prepare, so it's not a big problem.
