Has anybody tried this new vegan cheese yet?
http://veganstore.com/209.html

I hear it's fantastic, but I have no spending money at the moment and just recently bought two packages of Teese, so I have no business ordering any. Anybody want to order some and see if it's any good?

1. If somebody around me carried it, I'd try it
It's not soy-based, which I consider a plus. It seems that you can make anything out of soy, but cheese.

3. This stuff is brand new, so as far as I know it's hardly available anywhere yet.
If this stuff actually tastes good and stretches as promised, it must be made out of magic.

4. I was looking around on there and the age nut cheeses are almost tempting
BTW, I never realized so much scary vegan stuff came in cans. A veggie burger out of a can just weirds me out.

5. The Worthington stuff?
After *cough cough* years as a vegan, I still haven't got up the nerve to try any of it.

6. The Worthington Big Franks are the best vegan hot dogs available
and by a long shot. Our local (defunct) veg group did a blind taste test of the available vegan hot dogs a few years ago, and there was no comparison.

Worthington has been around for a very long time, and were the only faux meats for most of my lifetime. They have some good products - the Choplets make an excellent faux chicken-fried steak, and the Multigrain Cutlets are also quite good. Not all products are vegan, but these three are. Don't be afraid of the can!

8. I never did like hot dogs, but I'll try the other stuff.
Oddly enough they have a bunch of it at one of the regular grocery stores near me.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'd never have thought canned faux meat would be any good.

9. Agreed!
When I first went vegan I was astounded to find them in a local store. I bought a couple cans of them and took them to work where one of the cooks breaded and fried them for us.

Very much yum!

As Hun Joro said, don't be afraid of the can.

7. Yeah, plus I didn't know that there were other companies that also made faux meat in cans
I don't think I could bring myself to eat a veggie dog out of a can. It just seems wrong.

I'll eat veggie chili out of a can with the TVP in it, but that's different for some reason.

12. I'm going to wait and see if I can get it semi-locally.
I can get Teese and Cheezely at Rainbow Grocery in San Francisco. I hate to pay for shipping, so if it's something I have to mail order I'll probably wait until I can grab some when I'm traveling.
