4. It makes a difference for some people...

I say that having summered on my grandparents' 6 acres with the goats, sheep and the holstein. Dinner becomes a lot less palatable when you realize that it's the lamb you played with for the last two months.

My step father raised cattle. Sometimes a mother cow would not accept her calf & would not let it feed. We had a bucket that had a big nipple on it & my mother & I would mix up a special formula the vet gave us & we would feed the little guys twice a day. I came to love them soooooo much. When they were grown & in the pen with the other cows, they would recognize me when I walked by & come running up for a scratch on the nose. When those big semi-trucks came to take them away, I would cry & cry. I knew where they were going. Because of this experience, I avoided red meat as much as I could, at a very early age.

6. A dramatic PETA TV commercial against fur made me THINK about it for the

first time. I think if people were to see something similar regarding slaughter houses, it might affect a lot of people.

We're raised to view meat and other animal foods as just a package in the grocery store -- we either choose not to give thought to what we're eating, or such thought would never even occur to us.

The abysmal way we treat these animals during their short, tortured lives diminishes our humanity. I've always wondered at people who justify the inhumane treatment of animals by stating that "animals have no soul." It seems to me, that the one rationalizing inhumane treatment of another, is the one without a soul.

I'm glad the vid made you think. Some times it really is just a matter of "I never thought of that before."
