Update on Morningstar products
Hey Everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

I've recently discovered that many Morningstar Farms products have been un-veganized. Many of their fake meats now include eggs and milk since the company has been acquired by Kellogg - who did a taste test on some 'reformulated' products and found that people preferred the 'new' taste. Not only are they de-veganizing products, but they've discontinued some other more popular items as well. Bye bye Meal Starter Steak Strips...

This is going to inspire me to get more creative with homemade seitan in the kitchen. I hope to post some recipes in the future!

Here is the link to a response from Kellogg found on VegWeb.com http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=29638.0

And a big thanks to Quarrygirl.com for posting this on her blog!

1. Welcome!
Drat, and I loved those Steak Strips too. I'm also going to have to find time to learn to make my own.

Look for even less choice now that Kellogg's owns both Morningstar Farms and Gardenburger.

Thanks for posting.

2. Many of the vegan products were actually made by Gardien
and will now be sold under that brand or their "It's All Good" label. The steak strips are sold as a Gardien product now, from what I've heard.

Kellogg has also been juggling many of their remaining vegan products from the Gardenburger to Morningstar labels and back, with no real logic to it that I can determine. It's annoying and needlessly confusing to the customer, IMO.
