Perry is driving me crazy.
Perimenopause, that is. At least that is what I think is driving me nuts.

I don't miss meat one bit, yet I still get sudden urges for sweets and for sodas.

I know that Turtle Mountain Purely Decadent is one way to satisfy a sweet tooth (thanks flvegan :hi:), but what else can you suggest? I'm sure buying more fresh fruit is one way. I wish I knew where I can get pomegranates. They are in season now, but not stocked at my regular grocery store. Would it be better to try an ethnic market?

I love fruit juices (especially REAL cranberry juice), but they are soooo expensive. Trying to stretch them with water doesn't seem to be working. :(

Sorry for my hormonal rambling. Any suggestions are appreciated. :D

1. *paging LeftyMom*
She knows the sweets far better than I. TM ice cream is about as far as I go (thankfully, no real sweet tooth). Maybe crappy kid's cereal. If I get a craving for juice, I go for the grapefruit, which isn't remotely what you're talking about.

2. Grapefruit is good.
I love grapefruit! By crappy kid's cereal, do you mean the organic zoo- or wild animal-themed cereal I've seen at the store (can't recall brand names right now)?

I guess I'm going to have to take the time out to make some vegan cookies! I've seen some great recipes.

Or . . . is there a way to conquer a sweet tooth?

3. In cereal
no, I mean junk. I used to suck down Cocoa Corn Flakes during their test market here in Florida. Absolute garbage, but tasted really good. Any time I had a sweet craving, it was a bowl of that. Roughly 200 calories, not too bad for a snack.

I wasn't raised with many sweets, so I don't think I really developed one. My brother is about the same. Additionally, I'm really conscious of what I eat, so it's easy for me to just "say no" to sugary stuff. Food isn't much of a pleasure center for me, thanks to conditioning, so I don't really have anything to add on conquering a sweet tooth.

Frustrates LeftyMom who is always trying (bless her sweet *pun intended* heart) to send me sweet goodies, yet I'm always like no thanks.

4. As far as juice goes, it's usually relatively cheap at Trader Joes.
I've been eating a lot of their lime juice popsicles because they're just sweet enough to kill a late night craving without being something I'll get ridiculously fat eating.

Which is good because, as flvegan said, I'm quite capable of fattening myself and anybody in feeding range up with sweet things. I made a pan of vegan baklava last week, recipe here: http://www.ehow.com/how_2139672_make-vegan-baklava.html which had absolutely no redeeming nutritional qualities but tasted fantastic. Luckily I took most of that to a party so I only ate a little bit myself. I'm quite adept with the pies/cookies/cakes/quick breads/etc as well, so LMK if you want any particular thing veganized and I'll see what I can dig up.

5. Ahhh! Trader Joe's
Why do I keep forgetting about Trader Joe's? :spank: There's one 4 miles from me, too.

Lime juice popsicles sound tasty. Thank you!! :D
