I'm now approaching 35% of the way to goal weight! Thank you, Dr. McDougall!!
It's been quite a while since I've posted either here or in Weight Loss/Maintenance with a progress update. I figured it was about time. :D

After a fall and winter of dealing with multiple head and chest colds, and other pain issues and such, I've finally started dropping from a weight plateau which was becoming frustrating to the point of depression. I broke the cycle by investing in a BodyBugg and learning that I really wasn't consuming enough calories for my metabolism to do anything more than keep me in conservation mode. By increasing my calorie intake with the help of more whole wheat pasta, Grape Nuts with low-fat soy milk, brown rice and other low fat but calorie dense options, I've begun dropping again at a very respectable pace given that I still have a lot of issues with my left leg and foot which don't lend themselves to much mobility.

My ticker chart speaks for itself:

I've said a not-so-fond farewell to 111 lbs. as of this past Sunday, and 80 of those pounds have been thanks to following the McDougall Plan, which you can read about for yourselves at www.drmcdougall.com. Today's meal plan has consisted of a nice big batch of pineapple/mushroom "fried" (no oil, just a non-stick pan) rice which my wife cooked up for us this morning. Delicious and completely guilt free!

Peace out for now.... :headbang: :fistbump: :headbang:

1. Good to hear from you.
I think it was in October that I last got to speak with you in the other forum. Glad you're having more success with your diet, and I'm looking forward to your progress to your goal!

4. Thank you! Things are still nowhere near perfect, but they ARE improving a lot.
I'm really, REALLY stoked to get down under 300 again. It's been way too long, but I can easily envision it now as compared to a year ago.

2. More Rockin', Less Rollin'!
I heartily recommend the McDougall plan for a combo of a great animal-free diet with some healthy, sane weight loss. It's great to hear that it's working well for you.

5. There is nothing better.
I love how this bunch of cretins at one of the "compassionate conservative" -- oxymoron if there ever was one -- boards has been doing nothing but disparaging the plan, and me for following it. They're stalking my every post so it's not like they don't have access to the fucking links to the information, or the Star McDougaller stories of people as sick as myself or sicker who have embraced this lifestyle and are now healthy again.

Oh, well. Their loss.

7. I don't want to claim that McDougall's plan is the magic bullet, but...
A friend of mine who was a Libertarian (big- and small-L type) went through the McD plan a few years ago as a last-ditch effort to combat serious health problems, and it worked.

Since then he's also started backing away from his more crazy RW positions and started to agree with the idea of a basic safety net for social services.

Am I saying that the McDougall diet turns Wingnuts into Liberals? Well, I don't know, but it couldn't hurt!

;)

6. As Mike Malloy would say, "thanks for checking in."
Stick around because there will be more posts in the future as I hit major milestones in the journey back to optimum weight. :D
