Some advice on soy proteins from experience, please.
This is kind of funny, but I'm not joking. I've been trying to stay away from the meat, mostly because of price and I'm getting old and I can't handle it as well. I actually turned down kielbasa yesterday. I'm Polish, so that's a big deal.

Anyway, I bought some veggie sloppy joe mix. And it was so good, I ate too much. Actually I ate it all. Then that night, I thought I was going to die. I won't go into it, but you know what I mean. I thought I was going to explode.

Now I'm afraid of it. I have another box in there. Now I know, moderation. But my question is: Does your body get more used to the gaseous effect over time? Talk me down here.

1. Yeah, your gut flora will adjust.
Try to eat smaller amounts at first until you notice uhm... reduced side effects.

3. Awww.

The prettier vegan gives better advice than I do. I know, because I ask him crazy questions all the time. ;)

5. Soy seems to be harder to digest for some people. Especially the really refined stuff.
You might have better luck with less processed or fermented soyfoods. Tempeh is especially good.

7. Some people find that probiotics help here.
So if you eat yoghurt, try to increase your intake there. If you avoid dairy, try sauerkraut, kimchi, or acidophilus tablets.

But there's also the chance that you have a soy allergy, so if you find the condition doesn't improve, be sure to check with your doctor/nutritionist.

6. Something that worked really well for me in the early stages
was to chew the living hell out of my food. There was a dramatic decrease in the. . . less savory aspect of digestion when I did that. :hi:

8. I know the feeling, LOL
I make my own sloppy joes using TVP (see my recipe in the recipe section). I have found 2 things that help: 1. Cook it well, simmer for 15 or 20 minutes or more. If lightly cooked, it gives me terrible gas. And 2. stir in a few drops of Beano before serving. Beano contains a enzyme that helps with legume digestion. Hope this helps!

9. Beano NOT veg-friendly.
I was shocked to find out too...it has fish in it, the worst part is that it's not even an active ingredient...they didn't need to include it. There are veg-friendly alternatives supposedly though.
