Study suggests link between eating red meat and Crohn's disease
This article is currently in LBN. I thought it was interesting because it also mentions cancers of the colon.

I used to have a lot of digestive problems. When I stopped eating meat, just about all of them went away. I used to wake up sick in the night with crushing pain in my abdomen, it was awful. Meat was literally making me sick.

2. I had digestive problems too
from early childhood on that resolved themselves about 70% when I stopped eating meat and about 20% of the remainder when I quit eating dairy. I was medicated all through childhood for the issues, but nobody even thought to change my diet.

3. A friend of mine was saying the same thing today
He still eats meat, but he mentioned that he went vegetarian for about a month (and he's always had intestinal problems) and his stomach problems cleared up right away.

Not sure why he went back to eating meat....

4. Meat is an addiction, IMHO,
Otherwise I don't think I'd fall off the vege wagon so much.

From The Meat Junkie:

"Everyone now knows that smoking will kill you. Most people also understand that a lifetime spent eating meat isn't much healthier. Few Americans, however, seem to realize that every year meat-related diseases kill twice as many people as tobacco. And perhaps that's why I've never seen a public service announcement encouraging people to quit meat, or a congressman suggest a meat tax, or a state bring a public health lawsuit against Big Beef. Then again, this apathy towards eat might be explained by a very simple misunderstanding. Perhaps Americans believe that unlike tobacco, meat is not addictive. If so, I'm here to tell you otherwise. My name is Tyler Cole, and I'm a recovering meat addict."
