Capturing Digital Broadcast TV signals on computer....
...I saw in my local paper that there's a 200 card you can buy (it comes with an antenna) and you can use it to capture digitally broadcast TV and play it on your computer.

Anyone have any experience with this?

The article had not other details.

3. I have it, and it does!
You can use either a coaxial cable, S-Video, or a Composite cable to get the video and audio from your cable box. (Or any other video source.)

I have the EyeTV 200, BTW.

2. Digital as in HDTV?
I haven't heard of an HDTV card this cheap for computers yet. Standalone ATSC OTA tuner boxes were $300+ the last I looked.

If it's an analog tuner card it references, the Miglia Alchemy can be set up for either an antenna or cable input. They're around $150, and work well with a G4. I've got one in my wife's computer, and she loves having a little TV screen in the corner of the monitor while she's doing her work.

7. Yes, digital as in HDTV (or whatever is digitally broadcast in your area..
...I assume).

It's a card and antenna that pulls the digital signals out of the air and plays them on your computer monitor.

4. What I do is use my miniDV camcorder
I hook it up to my tv and use it as a vcr then dump that into my mac. I guess there are easier ways of doing it but I work with what I have.

5. Here's what you're talking about
http://www.elgato.com/index.php?file=products_eyetv200

The older version would handled analog cable, BUT, since most cable companies are switching to digitial these days, elGato just announced the 200 (at MacWorld).

We've got one on order and with a new Mac-mini (purchased just 2 days ago), Bluetooth and Airport Extreme, we're setting up a mechanism to capture news clips that can be accessed by all of the G5s on our local network.

Should be fun.
