I need some help getting SQL to work on my mini
I would like to use my mac to learn my sql skills I am working on at school. I have tried many times but failed, Can anyone tell me how to get it up and running to the point I can type in my sql commands and build tables/insert data?

1. You can install MySQL on OS X
It's not too hard to do if you are familiar with Unix and using the terminal. If you're not, then this source will be of little use.
