I have a question on Apple's mail program that came with Tiger.
I have been using Apple's mail program since I upgraded to OSX. I've always been able to copy and paste web addresses directly into emails I send. They were automatically turned into hyperlinks after I saved the email as a draft, or when they were sent to the receiver.

Since upgrading to Tiger this no longer happens. The URLs appear as regular text unless I add them the the text of the email using the "Add Hyperlink" function from the "Edit" menu.

Does anyone know if there is a way to add hyperlinks simply by cutting and pasting them?

Thanks in advance!

1. I think it is plain text by default. See if you can change it
to rich text to see if it makes a difference. Send e-mails to your self and see if there is any difference between plain and rich. If you make any changes to color it will prompt you to change to rich text.

2. Thanks for responding, alfredo.
:hi:

I'm already set to rich text. There is an option under the "Edit" menu called, "Paste as HTML," that I thought might do the trick. Unfortunately, regardless of what I'm pasting, it's always grayed out for me.

This seems like such a simple thing to do and it worked effortlessly in the old version. I'm starting to wonder if they consider this a new feature. x( Either that or I'm missing something really obvious, but just can't figure out what it is. :dunce:

Thanks for your suggestion. Please let me know if you think of anything else to try. :-)

3. have you sent an e-mail to yourself to see how the
link looks to the recipient? I have had no complaints from my mailings.

4. I just tried your suggestion and it worked.
:dunce: I thought I tried this earlier, but I must not have.

Thanks for your assistance. :-)

5. No problem
I didn't remember that I had the BSD Demon in my e-mail until I sent an e-mail to myself.

I had forgotten all about it.

7. Oh yes, love it. My wife used to work in Ghirardelli square at the
Wine Cellar. She was master of ceremonies at their open mic night. That was a few decades ago. She was living in one of the painted ladies with her cousin. Her cousin ran the local Macy's. She didn't care for her that much but the house was fantastic, the view to die for, and the rent free.

She met Jerry Garcia when she was there. She said he was a real good hugger. She called him a big gentle bear.

She was out there on a gymnastics scholarship at San Francisco State.

I'm assuming you live in the bay area.

8. What a great story!
"I'm assuming you live in the bay area."

I wish. Maybe someday. My husband is a consultant and worked in South San Francisco a couple of years ago. The kids and I flew up (from Phoenix) for a long weekend and we fell in love with the city. My husband and I both want to move there, but for now it's not an option. We're hoping to get up there again soon, maybe even over Labor Day weekend.
