I've recorded the Downing Street Forum to a VHS tape, and tried to
import it into iMovie. The video gets imported but not the sound. I'm hoping someone here has some suggestions Please write if any of you all do Thanks. :hi: :loveya:  :pals: :woohoo:

1. How are you importing? What are your VCR connections, etc?
Have you had success in the past with the same setup?

2. I've recorded movies in the past, but they were without sound. I have an
ADVC-100 digital converter. When I import the clips I can hear the sound, but when I transfer them to the timeline the sound isn't there. Last night I tried importing a bit of a movie directly from my TV, again I could here the sound as I was importing it, but when I transferred it to the timeline I didn't hear anything. :hi: :loveya:  :pals:

3. Just because you can hear the sound doesn't mean that it's getting
imported. That would depend on how you are monitoring the audio.

The first thing I would check is to make sure the cables are going to the right connectors and that they are nice and snug. Try twisting them a bit to make sure there is a good connection. I've never used either that digital converter or iMovie. I'm assuming you are running audio and video cables from your VCR to the ADVC and then from your ADVC to your computer via firewire. Is that correct?

In iMovie, try clicking on the audio tab which opens up a bunch of sound effects. Try double clicking on one of those to see if you an hear them. If you can't, there's a problem with your computer's audio setting.

Make sure the volume control (located under the right hand side of the big video window) is set somewhere in the middle or to the right. In other words, not all the way to the left.

There are little audio check boxes to the right of the timeline. Make sure these are checked. (You can turn off individual audio tracks if you like by unchecking them).

Hope this helps.
