iTunes 4.9 released (wth Podcasting)
I downloaded it, and other than the podcasting support, I don't see any other new features. Unfortunately, Apple decided NOT to update the 3G (touch-button) iPods to have a Podcasting menu, so it's pretty useless for my iPod.

1. I'm upset about this also
I bought a 3G 20Gig iPod last summer (one of the best purchases I've ever made) just before the Click-wheel iPods became available. I can only hope that an upcoming update adds the Podcast menu item, along with bookmarks.

3. That's Odd...

...that your 3G iPod was left out. I'm still using my first gen 5gig iPod and it has the podcasting function enabled. Like a previous poster mentioned, it's in the Playlist folder...

4. What's a "3G"? I looked on the back, just a model number...
...A1040

Mine is this one...

I bought it last summer.

5. I'm feeling really dense.
I updated to 4.9 and subscribed to the podcasts of a couple of AAR programs via the iTunes directory, but nothing has happened.

Any ideas on what steps I might have missed?

Thanks

6. The AAR links are not working
I tried, unsuccessfully, to download Morning Sedition. I've reported it to Apple.

7. Thanks for letting me know.
My default position in technology problems is that it's my fault. :)

Glad to know this time it's not just me.

8. The airamericaplace mp3s aren't working for me either. Also now I can't
transfer any of the whiterosesociety mp3s or the randirhodes illegal archives mp3s to my ipod. I might have to restore to the old ipod OS. :hi: :loveya:  :pals:

9. Apparently Apple hasn't updated the podcast lists yet.

As of this afternoon I could find no active podcasts listed. All show "Not Available". Unless I'm doing something wrong.

10. Not everything on the list is available. I downloaded a few Public
Radio shows and some Mac stuff, but I couldn't get AA yet either.

11. Turns out that AAR podcasts are bit torrent,
and iTunes doesn't support that.

There is an AAR Podcast FAQ page at

http://www.airamericaplace.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=10269

I hope iTunes adds that capability before too long.

13. Something I've discovered lately is that you have to convert AAR MP3's
to the AAC format. You also need to do that w/ whiterosesociety and randirhodes archives files because iTunes now lists all these files as quicktime movie files. :hi: :loveya:  :pals: :woohoo:

15. I don't know what your talking about. Podcasts are on there.
It's just not on the top page.

Go to Browse
then to Genre
Then you should see Podcasts.
Choose your podcast.
...or, just do playlist and scroll to the "P"s.

I've got Greg Palast, Am I Patriotic, Hannnity Sucks, and Digital Photography. Once I set myself up for a membership fee at White Rose, I'll get Mike Malloy and Thom Hartmann, both right from iTunes. Randi is not on iTunes yet though.
