Sharing a external drive
I have a 120GB external drive that I would like to share, but don't know how to do it.

Anyone here know how?

I am running Panther 10.3

1. First, lets define some terms.

What do you want to share it with, another computer (pc or mac?), or on a network?

What kind of drive is it? USB or firewire?

As far as I know, you can only mount a drive on one mac at a time, tho I may be wrong being a recent switcher to macs.

Alternatively there are adaptors to allow connecting external hard drives on a network. Here are two that I found. There are others. Just google 'network attached storage adaptor'

2. I know about the adapters
This external drive I can use either firewire or usb

I want to share the drive with a pc, and I am pretty sure this is an NFS file system or something. I can see my mac HD just fine, just can't write to it, only read. That's all I need to do, is read.

3. From what my google search turned up you'll have to dismount from the

Mac and then plug into the PC.

Sorry, but that's all I could find on the subject. There may be a way to do it that I'm not aware of, since I'm a recent switcher and still learning.

Maybe someone else has more knowledge than I. Hell, most people have more knowledge than I.
