What browsers do Macusers use?
When I first switched from the old SE to the Performa to get online back in 1996, I started with Netscape. I liked Netscape because both the browsing capabilities and the email came in one suit.

Last year, or so, I switched to Mozilla which was the continuation of Netscape without the AOL messing every ting.

I also use Safari on occasions and Mac mail - both lacking compare to Mozilla.

But I've heard that many switch to Firefox and Thunderbird and wonder about them.

No Outlook for me, thanks.

Any opinions, suggestions?

Thanks

Oh, I am using OSX, still at the free level of 10.2.8.

1. I used Safari and Opera.
I really like Safari. It just works.

There is another browser many don't know, called Shiira. It's small and fast, but it needs a later version of OSX. I will post the link anyway.

2. Firefox and Thuderbird. I used them before I switched to Mac,

....and just kept on with the mac versions.

Occasionally, and I do mean not much at all, I'll run across a site that isn't fully functional on Firefox and then I'll switch to Safari. The Logitech Remote site is that way, but I haven't run into more than one or two others.

4. Camino

Great simple browser, not flashy, but powerful and easy to use. Firefox used to be my thing, but i had problems with major memory leaks. The only other browser i use is, on occasion, IE. I despise it, but sometimes there are compatibility issues with websites

7. And what do you use for email?
I admit, the only time I use IE is for some games on Yahoo that, for some reason, are not supported by Mac/Netscpae

6. Firefox and sometimes Safari
Firefox is just more developed at this point than Safari- it has more features (bookmark organization is great) and there are extensions I couldn't live without.

I do use Safari sometimes and I feel it might be a little faster on my G3 ibook and my G5 imac- but Firefox is also as fast as I need.

I don't even have IE installed on my computers anymore.

8. What email program do you use?
One problem that I have with Safari is that everything is so smaller on the screen that either Mozilla or IE.

There probably is a default for the size. Or... I may be using the earliest version - 1.0

11. I use Entourage for email- have for years and love it.
I would prefer not to use MS software, but Entourage suits my needs the best (integrated calendar, to do list and email). I tried mail.app but didn't love it enough to switch yet. Maybe down the road when it becomes more developed.

10. Geekgrrl, are you aware that there is a version of FF optimized for the G5

It seems a bit quicker in my iMac G5 than the standard version.

16. Me too.
I started using Safari and IE. Only used IE if there were an MS specific website. But it started acting funky. So I installed Firefox and found that Firefox/Safari can read just about everything out there. So IE went out the window. I've never looked back.

Using the Mail app Apple put onto my iBook for emails. Haven't seen a need to use anything else.

18. What version mac. mail do you use?
Mine is 1.2.5 (yes, came with the computer) and it automatically downloads everything that comes to my Comcast mail on Mozilla, so I cam compare them and I don't think that functions well. There are graphics - you know, all the jokes that friends email - that just do not show on mac.mail - just gray squares, but they do on the Mozilla.

And then there are problems with addresses. Like most, when I get an email from someone not on my address book, I just copy as is. But there are some, from Intel, for example, that come in the format of: smith, john and the comma in between confuses mac mail.

14. Firefox. Safari as a backup.
I have to admit I don't find all that much performance difference between browsers.

17. Safari mostly
Firefox sometimes but I tend to run across sites that don't work very well with it on occasion. Plus, I simply like the look of Safari.
