Restoring settings ???

Somehow this morning I managed to erase all my preferences, booksmarks, and e-mail addresses and saved e-mail files. Don't ask.

I have heard that MS Windows computers have a Restore function, so that you can restore the configuration of your system to any prior date you designate with a click or two.

Is there anything like that on the Mac? (Running OS 10.4 on a Powebook G4)

it makes it difficult to diagnosis.

If you have AppleCare you should contact them, otherwise try a google search.

2. I certainly know this advice is a bit late, but for the future....

.....I have a Maxtor Onetouch II 250 Gb firewire & USB2 external drive which I use to back up my iMac G5, Mac Mini, and iBook. Using SuperDuper and three partitions on the Maxtor, I am able to incrimentally backup each of them whenever I add something to them. And the new version-2.0-now has scheduling so b/u can be done when you aren't using the machine.

As to your original question, I ain't got a clue.

running a utility program such as Tech Tool Pro or Norton, which I think both have recovery programs on them.
