Anybody's Limewire messed up these days? Is it Java related?

my little icon bounces, and then stops, and tries again, fitfully.. until it sputters out.
no error messages, but no launch of the program either.

i deleted the preferences file, no help, so i deleted the whole program and reinstalled. I noticed that there's a little arrow on the bottom left side of the lime slice icon that i think should go away, but won't. it wasn't there until i tired to launch the program.

so, i tried the disk repair, as i do occasionally, when things are glitchy.... and....

my disk utility doesn't work anymore either, it loses it's connection to the library when it's starts checking or repairing permissions.
ay yay yay. i have no clue, i really don't.

someone suggested the limewire problem is java related, and limewire should work on OS9. i don't even want to launch that, it was so slow, as to be almost useless.

any ideas?

tks in advance.

4. of course not- well....
except for my itunes i guess i'd be okay if it all disappeared.
you think i should take it into tek serve to upgrade the memory and do a clean reinstall?
they are cheaper and smarter than the Mac geniuses. i know i need the additional memory anyway. i hate hauling this into the city though. yikes.

5. Well, Yes, I'd have them back it up to CDs for you too.
I do that sort of stuff for myself, but most people haven't lived and breathed computer hardware for 34 years as I have.

7. Apple told me
Apple told me that Limewire and Apple do not get along. It messed up both my daughters' emacs and now I can't even upgrade one of them to Tiger.

And, same as other poster, Acrobat Reader is disabled.

I'll probably have to erase hard drive and start over....

10. ben, any idea what the little black arrow on the lower left of my icon
(the lime) might mean? it's not on the side, as if it's open, it's on the bottom left corner on the icon, not aside it, pointing towards the center of the lime.
it won't go away, and i'm sure it arrived with this problem.
