Need help setting up Mac Mail
I'd like to use the mail interface that came with my G5, but I'm a bit lost.

I currently use an SBC global DSL and have a yahoo mail account. How do I know if I'm using a POP mail account?
Where do I find my incoming mail server? I've looked in system preferences, no help.

I'm not getting it when I try to follow the set up procedures of the mail program.

I must look like an imbecile. Can someone help?

1. I'm not sure you can
without a paid e-mail address. Check this thread - there are some apps that will allow you to send e-mail, and another that will let you check your yahoo account.

2. You should ask your ISP for the incoming mail server info, etc.
They should be able to give you the server addresses you need to set up. (Although I'm not sure Yahoo mail or Google mail or any other web-based mail system will work this way.)

You don't have to have a .mac account to use Mail on your Mac — I have a Road Runner account (cable ISP) and use Mail.

3. yahoo mail makes you pay for pop access.
Would you like a gmail account? You can access that via pop for free, and I have 100 to give away.
They have instructions on how to do it.

PM me your yahoo email addy, and I'll invite you.

4. Thanks for the suggestions.
I may just let it pass for now.
