I photo 5 help with Email please
Have posted on apple forum - no response - here it is...

Used to be able to Email photos from Iphoto 5 - no problem. Now it wants to use entourage or america online - neither of which I use or support. ALL of the selections in the preferences for IPhoto are greyed out and cannot select "mail".

Now on 5.0.4 after updatiing - but it was a problem before the update.

What happened?? How can I fix it??

1. Are you recieving mail in Mail?
...or are you using Entourage? All I use is Mail. Nothing else is loaded, so AOL, Entourage, etc. are all greyed out for me, and Mail is the only one I can select.

You either have Mail un-installed, or your iPhoto is corrupted. Try loading the iPhoto part of iLife again (you can choose one or all), or the recovery disc to re-load Mail.

It should not delete your photos, but I hope you backed them up with CDs, just in case.

ILife - IPhoto 5 was on my laptop when I got it and cannot figure out how to get just it off the system install disk.

Can't find a "custom install" on it where you can select just what you want.

My mail is working fine otherwise - safari-

3. You sure about your recovery discs?
If I recall, I had 3-4 recovery discs, and one of them was for the software pre-loaded on my Mac. Mine is iPhoto ver. 2 so I don't use it anymore, as I got iLife'05 after, but I'm sure I still have it. Who knows?

I'll check my CD book to see when I get home.

Do you have an Apple Store nearby? Can you take it in and have it checked?

4. Yes, there is an apple Store near
looks like I may visit the Genius Bar - and spend quite a bit of time in line at the desk

Have put it off due to time constraints and hope that I could figure it out on my own..

I suspect this program is somewhere on my disk --- but cannot access it for some reason.

Can work around for the time being using photoshop and attaching - but it is a bit of a pain.

Thanks for your response

5. Problem solved!
Opened with option key - chose library - then restarted and re-opened and chose a pic and chose Email and it worked.

Thanks for your input - also used Apple discussion board to piece this together --
