Also, I am a novice who has used Reason in the past.

2. Logic Pro
and it's cheaper cousin, Logic Express are supposed to be good. As I haven't used them personally I can't report to you with any authority on how good they really are, only that they are Apple native and very popular.

Not sure how good the mixer is with this. They refer to it as a simple mixer.

8. As soon as the next upgrade comes out, I'm buying Logic Express.
After doing a lot of research, I believe it is the best bang for the buck, especially if you can get an educational discount (Warning! Educational software cannot not be upgraded). :(

I've used Reason, but I need to be able to record live music of me playing acoustic instruments.
